Telecommunication unit Kozhikkode City is entrusted with upkeep and maintenance of all communication channels and equipments to provide Telecommunication network to the day to day policing in the KKD-City Police District. Telecommunication unit of kozhikkode City is headed by Inspector of Police, Telecommunication. About 50 numbers of Police officials in the rank of Sub Inspectors, Assistant Sub Inspectors, Head Constables and Police Constables from Kerala Police Telecommunication is working in this unit for the upkeep and maintenance of communication equipments and channels. For the repair and maintenance of Computers in the District, a District Computer Maintenance Unit (DCMU) is also functioning within the Telecommunication Unit. A Video Conference set up at CPO, is up keeping and facilitating as and when required. The voice logger equipment installed in Kozhikode City sub Unit helps to record all VHF, Telephone conversation and can be retrieved the data at any time for analyzing such as breaches of communication, unnecessary communications etc. Separate GD, Wireless log & CoB logs and computer maintenance register also are manually maintained.

  This sub unit is Working in City Police Commissioner Office premises near Mananchira. At present CoB Node, Trunk Line, Cipher, HF and Computer Maintenance Unit, Electronic and communication Workshop are working here. District VHF Repeaters is located at the top of Medical College Hospital building Kozhikode.  The Law and Order communication is under this Repeater Station and the same is working with Low Band and high Band patching. Traffic Repeater is at the Civil Station building Kozhikode City.

Other Special Communication Arrangements in KKD City.

• Providing   communication arrangements for the movements and security of VVIPs and VIPs.
• Exclusive communications cover for the Lok Sabha/ Assembly/ Panchayath Elections.
• Necessary Communication arrangements are also being made for the Indoor/Outdoor Training, Field visits, Practical Training and Summer Camps of Student Police Cadet (SPC) Project.
