  This Sub unit is functioning at the Collectorate building Complex, Kottayam under the control of an Inspector of Police. Tele Communication Sub unit, Kottayam  is established in 1973 as the office of the Inspector of Police, Central Range.   Later Sub unit was given charge to a Sub inspector during the year 1976 and Inspector during the year 1991. The main duties are Trunk line communication, District VHF Communication (VHF Control), CoB, DCMU, Maintenance of VHF equipments/ Computers in Police stations and other special units in Districts, Repeater station duty, VIP/VVIP duties, Festival duties etc. The District repeater station is situated at Ilaveezha Poonchira, Kudayathoor Hills. A video conference arrangement is also managed by this unit at the DPC office Kottayam.

Other Special Communication Arrangements

•  Providing foolproof communication arrangements for the movements and security of VVIPs and VIPs.
• Communications cover for the Lok Sabha/ Assembly/ Panchayath Elections.

  Festivals like Etumanoor Temple, Vaikom Temple, Kumaranalloor Temple, Panachikkad Poojafest, Erumeli Temple in connection with the Sabarimala Season, Bharanangaanam Church, Athirampuzha Church, Thazhathangadi Boat Race which will witness heavy rush of Pilgrims/ Devotees every Year. Effective Communication arrangements are being organized for the crowd control as well as Traffic regulations to ensure smooth flow of traffic and pilgrims.
